Use this interactive map to view workforce data for a particular state or region and compare data between areas.

Once you click to select a region, you can view the region's workforce data on the panel to the right and refine the area by choosing a metro/county area using the dropdown below the workforce data (metro access will depend on the data available for the map shown on the page.)
Note: Selecting a state or region with the map options will dictate the data in the other charts on the Explore dashboard.
Using the map: Demographic data comparison and navigation
The color coding on the map represents a higher concentration of STARs living in the region wherever the color purple is deeper.
- Default View shows the collective national information.
- Hover over a state (outlined in orange) to see national data compared with state data in orange.
- Click to Select a state to make the base data reflect statistics specific to that state (outlined in black).
- Click again to deselect and return to the default state
- Hover over another state to compare in orange
- Select a metro area from the dropdown on the bottom left corner of the chart to dive deeper into state data.
- Hover over a region in the metro area to highlight in orange and compare data for that area with the entire metro selection.
- Click to select a specific Public Use Microdata Area (PUMA) within the metro area and view the data specific to that location. The data available differs by PUMA.
- Hover over another PUMA to compare.
- Select a county from the dropdown at the bottom of the chart to view data specific to a county.
- Use the State Map button to isolate the reporting metro areas in the state.
- Dropdown buttons become Counties and Metro areas.
- To return to a previously selected area, use the go-back icon at the top left of the chart.

Click on the Data Sources link in the key to access citations to reference when presenting captures from this chart. The key also reveals information about the areas with shades of purple to indicate the concentration of STARs or gray to demonstrate that no data is available for that area.
